Mexico Vs Ecuador Tips  and Prediction

Mexico entered the new year on the heels of a great World Cup Qualifying campaign, finishing second in the North American group on goal difference just behind Canada.

El Tri won eight games and accumulated 28 points in 14 games to qualify for the Qatar tournament, before drawing with Guatemala in April to start the new year.

Gerardo Martino’s side has already played twice in this round of matches, defeating Nigeria 2-1 due to a Santiago Gimenez opening and an own goal by William Troost-Ekong.

They then faced Uruguay last time out, but were defeated 3-0, with Edinson Cavani scoring a brace and Matias Vecino scoring a goal.

El Tri will hope to return to winning ways and recover their momentum with a favorable result on Sunday, their penultimate friendly before the start of the CONCACAF Nations League next week.

Ecuador, on the other hand, will be hoping to gain confidence ahead of the World Cup by winning again.

La Tri beat the odds to finish fourth in South American qualification, pipping Peru, Colombia, and Chile to the final slot in the top four and securing an automatic berth in this year’s championship, with 26 points from 18 games.

Despite a difficult conclusion to the season in early 2022, when they drew three matches and lost one, they returned to action in early June with a match against Nigeria.

Gustavo Alfaro’s side defeated the Super Eagles, 1-0, with to Pervis Estupinan’s early goal.

With just Sunday’s match, a friendly against Cape Verde, and a September match against Saudi Arabia remaining before the World Cup kicks off in November, Ecuador will be anxious to build on Friday’s success as they enter a tough group that includes the Netherlands, Senegal, and hosts Qatar.

We foresee a close match that may go any way in what should be an exciting match between two sides eager to gain confidence ahead of the World Cup.

Finally, we believe Mexico has a little superior group overall, and we expect them to bounce back from their recent loss to Uruguay with a close victory.
